Rose Wylie studied at Folkestone and Dover School of Art and at the Royal College of Art. All of her work is centred on painting and drawing.Her first retrospective exhibition was held at the Jerwood Gallery, Hastings in 2012, and was followed by her BP Spotlight exhibition at Tate Britain in 2013, which led to museum shows in Philadelphia; Tonsberg, Norway; Wolfsberg, Germany; Tal R’s Project Space, Copenhagen; and the Douglas Hyde Gallery in Dublin.

In 2011, she was given the Paul Hamlyn Award and in 2014 she won the John Moores Painting Prize. In 2018 she was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
She has been invited to meet and talk with students in the significant artists series ‘Artists Promenades’ at the Royal College of Art and given talks on her work at many important institutions.

Wylie has work in private and public collections including Tate Britain, the Arts Council Collection, Jerwood Foundation, Hammer Collection, and York City Art Gallery.
